SCAC Selects Prospectus

Sioux City Art Center Selects

August 20 – December 4, 2016

Opening Reception & Awards Presentation: Friday, August 19, 5 - 7 pm

DEADLINE: Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Sioux City Art Center Selects is a non-traditional juried/curated exhibition designed to create a more meaningful experience for both the selected artist and the audience. In order to achieve this, artists will be initially selected from digital images, followed by studio visits. The number of selected artists will be limited to allow each artist to have more space than in traditional juried exhibitions.

This inaugural exhibition welcomes entries of bodies of original work, created within the last five years. Artists 18 and older who currently work in Iowa or within 300 miles of Sioux City are eligible to apply. Works in all media are welcome. Once selected, the artist will work with the jurors/curators (final  selection by curators) to assemble a group of works for inclusion in the exhibition (the number will vary from artist to artist). The goal is to provide viewers with a more comprehensive body of works by each artist.

Cash Awards will be announced at the reception $1,500 first prize, $500 second prize, $250 third prize. Artists are not required to be present to receive awards.

Additional Benefits
The Sioux City Art Center (SCAC) will publish a catalogue of the exhibition with each of the participating artists having his/her own page.
Participating artists will also be given serious consideration for future one-person exhibitions at the SCAC.
